    Vivo Z1 Pro
  • The upcoming Z series Vivo phone will be called Vivo Z1 Pro.
  • Vivo Z1 Pro could be rebranded Vivo Z5x for India.
  • Vivo has confirmed that Z1 Pro will come with in-display camera on the front.

We at India Today Tech have exclusively reported about the upcoming Z series phone from Vivo earlier this week and also last week. We have confirmed the processor powering the Vivo phone and also revealed the phone's first look. Until now Vivo was teasing the new Z series phone but now the company has confirmed the name of the device and also revealed some key spec of the phone. The upcoming Z series Vivo phone will be called Vivo Z1 Pro.
Earlier some media reports suggested that the upcoming Z series phone is the Vivo Z5x that launched in China recently. But looks like that's the case as the upcoming Z series Vivo phone is Vivo Z1 Pro and not Z5x. However, there are high chances that the Vivo Z1 Pro will be rebranded Vivo Z5x for India.
Vivo is teasing the Vivo Z1 Pro for quite some days now. Via the innumerable teasers, Vivo has confirmed that Z1 Pro will come with in-display camera on the front, in other words, the phone will include punch-hole selfie camera. This, in turn, will offer much bigger screen-to-body ratio to the consumers. This is the first Vivo phone to come with a punch-hole display. Notably, the Vivo Z5x in China includes the same punch hole camera design.
The teasers have also revealed that the Vivo Z1 Pro will come with a big battery that will last for one full day on a single charge. In an exclusive report, we at India Today Tech confirmed that the Vivo Z series phone will be powered by Snapdragon 700 processor, most likely Snapdragon 712 processor. Having said that, this Vivo phone will be the first to come with Snapdragon 712 processor in India.
Earlier this week we released two live photos of the Vivo Z1 Pro and the phone looks stunning from the back side in them. The pictures reveal that the Vivo Z1 Pro will come with three cameras on the back panel and will sport glossy and gradient finish design. Right next to the camera module we can see the circular fingerprint sensor that will enable users to unlock the phone at finger touch.
As far as the pricing is concerned, in India, the Vivo Z series phone is expected to be priced around Rs 20,000. With the Vivo Z1 Pro the company will take on the likes of phones like Samsung Galaxy M40, among others. Vivo is yet to reveal the launch date of the Z1 Pro. However, reports suggest that the phone will go official in Q3 of 2019.

Nubia Red Magic 3

Nubia Red Magic 3 with 90Hz OLED display could be cheaper than OnePlus 7, launching on June 17

The Red Magic 3 is the second gaming smartphone from Nubia in India. Launched globally a few months ago, the Red Magic 3 boasts of all high-end specifications and is expected to be priced on par with the OnePlus 7.

HIGHLIGHTS

    Nubia Red Magic 3
  • The Red Magic 3 sports a 90Hz OLED display with Full HD+ resolution.
  • Equipped with a Snapdragon 855 chipset and fan-based cooling system, the Red Magic 3 falls into the flagship grade smartphone club.
  • The Re d Magic 3 currently tops the AnTuTu benchmark list beating all other Android phones.

Gaming smartphones have been picking up pace in the Indian market lately and companies are cashing in on the opportunity. After the BlackShark 2, Nubia is set to bring the Red Magic 3 to the Indian shores soon. The company has even disclosed its launch date - it's coming on June 17. This makes it the fourth flagship-grade smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 855 to launch this summer, after the OnePlus 7 series, Oppo Reno and BlackShark 2.
The Red Magic 3 has been in news for a while now. Last week, AnTuTu claimed that the Red Magic 3 led its benchmark tests with the highest scores, beating all other flagship smartphones by some margin. And that only justifies the credentials of this gaming smartphone. Because when you look at the spec sheet of the Red Magic 3, it comes across as nothing less than beastly.
All gaming and flagship phones come with the Snapdragon 855 chipset but Nubia uses custom cooling solutions to sustain higher peak performance than its rivals. The Red Magic 3 is probably the first smartphone to use a combination of liquid cooling technology as well as a fan-based cooling system. Therefore, like a gaming laptop, you have actual heat vents. The phone also sports an RGB LED light at the back like its predecessor.
That's not the only gaming device highlight the Red Magic 3 boasts. Like the OnePlus 7 Pro, it sports a 90Hz OLED display with Full HD+ resolution. The phone uses a fairly stock version of Android 9 Pie with certain under-the-hood optimisations to ensure fast gaming performance. Plus, a massive 5000mAh battery should ensure longer backups during gaming sessions. If you like photography, Nubia has stuffed in a 48-megapixel Sony camera at the rear and a 16-megapixel camera at the front.
There's no hint of the price yet but a recent report by 91 Mobiles suggests that Nubia could launch the 8GB RAM variant around Rs 36,999. This could make the Red Magic 3 great value over the OnePlus 7 if specifications matter more than anything else. It is even said that Nubia wants to go aggressive with its pricing which means we could see a possible price of around Rs 30,000 in India.

Asus ROG Phone 2

Asus ROG Phone 2 will come with 120Hz display, to launch later this year

The successor to last year's ROG Phone is confirmed to come with a 120Hz refresh rate enabled display. Only the Razer Phones have 120Hz screens so far.

Asus ROG Phone

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Asus ROG Phone 2 will come with a 120Hz display.
  • Only the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 have featured 120Hz screens on smartphones so far.
  • The ROG Phone 2 is expected to be unveiled later this year.

Although the credit of 'inventing' the gaming smartphone goes to Razer, it was Asus who popularised the idea of a gaming smartphone all across the world with its ROG Phone. Although it was (and still is) expensive compared to the ones that came later, the ROG Phone set a benchmark for what gaming phones can do if the sky is the limit. For a long time, it has been imagined what its successor would bring to the table and Asus has just given us a hint about the ROG Phone 2.
In a recent post on Weibo, Asus declared it will bring a higher refresh rate screen with the ROG Phone 2. Tencent will bring a faster 120Hz refresh rate support for its fighting game "Under One Man" and Asus confirms that its next phone will support such a higher refresh rate. The existing ROG Phone only comes with a 90Hz OLED screen.
A smartphone display with a higher refresh rate is always a visual treat as has been proven with the recently launched OnePlus 7 Pro that introduced a 90Hz screen to the masses. However, this isn't the first time we will be seeing a 120Hz screen on a smartphone. Previously, the Razer Phone and Razer Phone 2 debuted screens with the 120Hz refresh rate.
While many phones have been coming with screens that support higher refresh rates, you have to keep in mind that games also need to support those high refresh rates to deliver the best experience. Currently, Asphalt 9: Legends supports natively 90Hz refresh rate.
With the ROG Phone 2 confirmed to feature a display with 120Hz refresh rate, it is only a matter of few simple guesses to determine the rest of the specifications. As with all 2019 gaming phones, the ROG Phone 2 will surely rely on the Snapdragon 855 chipset and Asus could be offering it in a higher state of tune with bumped up clock speeds. You can also expect up to 12GB RAM as well as UFS 3.0 storage for faster read/write speeds.
With this year's ZenFone 6 featuring a 5000mAh battery, Asus could bring the same to the ROG Phone 2 as well. Other expected features include a 48-megapixel Sony camera for the rear as well as Quad HD+ display. and of course, being a ROG-branded device means it will feature a wild gaming laptop-like design with RGB LED lighting.
